Fire service funding

In August 2012 the Government announced that it would review the functions and funding of New Zealand’s fire services.

 

Regulations

In December 2017 the Department of Internal Affairs sought feedback on draft Fire and Emergency New Zealand (Levy) Regulations 2017.

 

Residential property

In October 2017 the Department of Internal Affairs invited feedback on a potential model for levying residential property.

 

Transitional arrangements discussion document

In March 2017 the Department of Internal Affairs sought feedback on a proposed approach to levy calculation and transitional levy relief.

 

2017 levy rate discussion document

In November 2016 Fire and Emergency New Zealand sought feedback on proposed levy rates for 2017/18.

 

Regulations discussion document

In July 2016 the Department of Internal Affairs sought feedback on proposed regulations on which property should be subject to the Fire and Emergency New Zealand levy and information that insurers should supply to Fire and Emergency New Zealand. 

 

Fire and Emergency New Zealand Bill

In June 2016 the Government introduced the Fire and Emergency New Zealand Bill to Parliament to establish a unified fire service and update its funding arrangements.

 

Discussion paper

In May 2015 the Department of Internal Affairs sought feedback on a range of topics, including options for how a unified fire service should be funded. 

 

Fire Review Panel

In August 2012 the Government established the Fire Review Panel to provide advice on the reform of New Zealand’s fire services.  The panel sought feedback on the functions and funding of the services.
