Craig Olsen,

Chief Executive New Zealand

Craig Olsen was appointed Chief Executive New Zealand in December 2015 with a commencment date of 1 January 2016. 
Craig was previously Executive General Manager – Direct Insurance New Zealand. Prior to that, he was Executive General Manager – Transformation, responsible for the successful integration of AMI into IAG in New Zealand.
Craig joined IAG in 2000 and has held a number of senior roles in Australia and New Zealand, including Head of Workers’ Compensation – Victoria; and national General Manager of CGU Workers’ Compensation division.
He is a director of AMI Insurance Limited, IAG (NZ) Holdings Limited, the Insurance Council of New Zealand, Loyalty New Zealand Limited and Lumley General Insurance (N.Z.) Limited.
Craig has a Bachelor of Accountancy from the University of South Australia and has completed programs at the Australian Graduate School of Management and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Garry Taylor,

Executive General Manager Business

Garry has more than 24 years’ experience with IAG, holding various management positions in personal and commercial sales in both our Intermediated and Consumer businesses.
He joined the NZI team in July 2010 as General Manager Personal Sales and now holds the role of General Manager Claims. Garry's responsibilities include strategy, operations, innovation, quality and administration for claims for all intermediated brands. 
Garry has recently been appointed the role of EGM NZI and will start in May 2018. With his extensive experience he will continue to deliver great results for NZI and its customers.

Kevin Hughes,
Executive General Manager Customer & Consumer


Kevin Hughes was appointed Executive General Manager Customer & Consumer in July 2018. Kevin has more than 20 years’ experience working in financial services in insurance and banking and previously spent 16 years at ANZ in various roles, including leading the Small Business Banking Division at ANZ. 
Kevin has been with IAG since May 2011 and has been General Manager for both the AMI and State businesses.  He now leads both IAG’s Consumer business which has responsibility for delivering great experiences for customers through our three leading direct brands - AMI, State and NAC - and our banc assurance portfolio, Westpac, ASB, BNZ and Co-op. He has recently taken on the responsibility of IAG’s Customer function.

Martin Hunter,

Chief Risk Officer

LLB, PGDipBus Admin
Martin was appointed Chief Risk Officer in July 2018. Prior to this he was IAG NZ’s Executive General Manager Strategy, People and Reputation (2014 – 2018), and General Counsel and Company Secretary (2007 – 2013). He practised law in New Zealand before spending seven years at Schroder Investment Management in London, returning to New Zealand in 2000. Martin has extensive external relations, banking, funds management and insurance experience where he has led portfolios of functions in complex and dynamic markets, requiring transformational change.
As Chief Risk Officer, Martin has overall responsibility for risk and strategy within IAG NZ.  

Melissa Cantell,
Chief Operating Officer

BA, LLB (Hons)
Melissa Cantell was appointed Chief Operating Officer in July 2017.  Prior to that, she was Executive General Manager Transformation.
Melissa has accumulated a broad range of experiences over her career.  She was a corporate lawyer for ten years, leading major strategic M&A programs and business integrations in New Zealand, Australia and Asia. Melissa then moved into general management roles with global consumer products organisations such as Fonterra and Coca-Cola, leading end-to-end business operations and successful transformations.  

As IAG NZ’s Chief Operating Officer, Melissa is focused on building a simple, efficient and agile organisation that delivers sustainable high performance.  This includes our Claims operations, supply chain, major strategic projects and enterprise optimisation.



Alistair Smith,

Chief Financial Officer


Alistair was appointed CFO at IAG NZ in September 2014, post-acquisition of the Lumley Insurance business in July 2014. Alistair had been a member of the Lumley Executive team, having held the roles of Chief Operating Officer (COO) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO).
Immediately prior to his role at Lumley, Alistair was the General Manager Finance and Risk at AMP. He has also held senior roles in finance, strategy, operations and projects in other organisations including ANZ, Chase Manhattan and NatWest in Australia, United Kingdom and New Zealand, after first commencing his career with Ernst & Young in Auckland.
As IAG CFO, Alistair has overall responsibility for finance, business planning and performance and actuarial.

Merran Anderson,

Executive General Manager People & Culture

Merran Anderson was appointed Executive General Manager People & Culture in August 2018. Prior to this she lead the People & Culture team, and was responsible for the transformational programme to drive accountability for building IAG’s purpose-led culture in New Zealand.
With a background in Marketing, Merran originally joined IAG in 2007 to lead the Marketing & Communications function.  She made the switch to P&C to bring the people and customer worlds closer together, ensuring IAG NZ’s culture supports amazing customer outcomes and business performance, and to bring commercial drive and strategic mindset to the People & Culture agenda. Since joining People & Culture in 2016, IAG has demonstrated continued growth in employee advocacy and leader effectiveness.
A member of the NZ leadership team, Merran is a leader with proven experience in aligning and motivating teams to execute strategy, while keeping a clear focus on customer, growth and profit. She is energised by challenge and complexity, adept at leading through change, and has successfully built productive teams by drawing out individual strengths in people and helping them experience success. Prior to joining IAG Merran’s experience spanned roles in start-ups, corporate and matrix structures in multi-brand, multichannel and joint-venture financial service organisations.

Blair Williams,

General Counsel & Executive General Manager External Relations

Blair was appointed General Counsel & Executive General Manager External Relations in July 2018. Previously, he held the role of Executive General Manager – General Counsel and Company Secretary. Prior to joining IAG NZ, Blair was General Counsel and Company Secretary at AMI. Blair joined IAG NZ as Deputy General Counsel in July 2012, following the acquisition of AMI by IAG NZ.

Blair has extensive legal, regulatory, dispute resolution and governance-related experience. He has also been responsible for delivering a number of significant corporate transactions for IAG NZ. As General Counsel & Executive General Manager External Relations, Blair has overall responsibility for the Legal, Board Services, Property, Corporate Relations and External Communications functions of IAG NZ.
