State comes to rescue of hoaxed Huntly residents
AUGUST 2009
State insurance is lending a hand to local Huntly residents who found themselves left in the lurch following a practical joke involving a forged letter from the local council.
Residents of Huntly’s Croft Terrace left their rubbish out for what turned out to be a fake inorganic collection after they received the hoax letter.
The local council reported that it was a case of fraud with no apparent motive apart from harassment.
State has organised rubbish skips to be delivered to Croft Terrace on Monday 24 August and State staff will be helping remove the rubbish, cleaning up the street.
“Residents have been sent a flyer advising them of this and we’ll do the rest”, said Mary-Jane Daly, Executive General Manager State insurance.
“Our State brand is all about making help happen and this is a tangible way in which we can demonstrate this”.
“We may not be able to protect the residents from hoax letters but we can help to clean up. This is an unfortunate situation for the residents and we wanted to do our bit to help”, said Ms Daly.
