Our thoughts are with everyone affected by the Christchurch earthquake and those who have been injured or lost loved ones.
Helping our customers through this difficult time is our highest priority. We have a large team across the country to provide support and advice to you – from practical advice on what to do right now, to making your claim.
WHAT TO DO RIGHT NOW
1. Stay home if you can. Looking after your family, friends and neighbours is your first priority.
2. Secure your property as much as possible. If you can, make it watertight and get emergency repairs done for essential services like toilets and water systems. Keep everything the repairer replaces and all receipts.
3. If your home is uninhabitable, turn off all non-essential services if you haven’t already. If you can’t get to your control boxes, call your water or energy supplier.
4. Civil Defence emergency payments and other assistance is available. Call the Government helpline on 0800 77 99 97.
5. If you’re able to, take photos before moving anything or tidying up, but don’t throw anything away unless it is perishable. Keep a list of these perishable items and dispose of them safely.
6. Call us for support and advice at any time on the numbers below.
